Dr Yen-Yung Yap
MBBS, MRMed, FRANZCOG
Dr Yap is the founder and director of Yap Specialist, and will be providing you a holistic care in the area of Women’s Health, Fertility and Pregnancy. Under his care, as your Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, you can expect a care plan which is individually-tailored, evidence-based and comprehensive, and if you need the time and attention, he will be the specialist you can trust.
After obtaining his medical degrees from the University of Adelaide in 2001, Dr Yap went on to do his postgraduate training at Lyell McEwin Health Service, the Queens Elizabeth Hospital and the Women & Children Hospital.
In 2005, he was offered a rare opportunity to undergo specialist training in high risk pregnancy, ultrasound scanning, and women’s health at Mater Mothers Hospital, in Brisbane, Queensland which is Australia’s largest maternity hospital with an annual delivery number exceeding 10,000 births. In 2009, he was awarded the membership to the Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (RANZCOG), and undertook his fellowship training in advanced laparoscopy in Brisbane and reproductive medicine in Adelaide. In 2011, he was awarded the prestigious RANZCOG fellowship, after which he became a recognized fully-qualified specialist by the Medical Board of Australia in the field of Women's Health & Childbirth. In 2013, he obtained a Master degree in Reproductive Medicine from the University of NSW, and became one of the few gynaecologists in Australia holding a dual College-based Fellowship and University-based Master degree.
He is an Associate of City Fertiity Adelaide, and is a member of the Australian Medical Association, Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society, Fertility Society of Australia, Asia-Pacific Menopause Federation and Australian Chinese Medical Association; and regularly participates in seminars, workshops and conferences to advancing and sharing his knowledge and skills in managing a wide range of women’s health issues and fertility. He is also a certified colposcopist – a specialist who can perform colposcopy for women with abnormal PAP smears and genital lesions.
With his breadth of knowledge and expertise in women’s health, he is able to provide you an in-depth understanding of various women’s health issues which extend to pelvic pain, menstrual disorder, fertility, pregnancy, contraception, vaginal prolapse and menopause. His clinical approach is to be flexible and pragmatic in managing challenging women’s health problems, and to cater for the needs of women from different medical and socio-cultural background. His mission is to provide gynaecological care for women from puberty to menopause, and a comprehensive reproductive care plan for couples from fertility to childbirth to family planning. He embraces multiculturalism and is comfortable conversing in other languages like Cantonese and Mandarin.
Dr Yap is happily married to Mei-Khing and has three children. In his spare time, he loves playing tennis, swimming, gardening, bush-walking and spending time with his family.

Dr Leigh Michael Bennie
BMed, BEd, FRACGP, DRANZCOG
Dr Leigh Bennie is a highly experienced all-rounder doctor with a special area of interest in surgery. He regularly assists Dr Yap when major surgeries are performed at various large private hospitals in Adelaide. Together, they share the same professional goal of maintaining excellence in patient care as well as in surgical management.
Dr Bennie consults as a General Practitioner in Morphett Vale. His other special areas of interest are in Women's Health and clinic-based procedures for gynaecology and skin cancer. He also provides comprehensive antenatal shared-care service in collaboration with your obstetrician like Dr Yap.
After completing a Degree in Education, Dr Bennie enjoyed a brief career in Education before directing studies towards a career in Medicine. He completed a Year in Science, studying Biology and Chemistry at University of Newcastle, where he was awarded the Barry Boettcher Prize in Biology for Academic Excellence in that field. He then went on to obtain his Medical Degree from the University of Newcastle in 1997 and did his postgraduate medical training in Rural New South Wales and Victoria. The first two years were completed as Part of a student scholarship with the Rural Doctors Resource Network. This led to enrolment and progression through a four-year training program towards the honour of being awarded a Fellowship of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2001.
Dr Bennie then enrolled in a highly competitive and challenging Diploma course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology aimed at providing a firm grounding of Basic gynaecological and obstetric surgical and general management skills. In 2002, he was awarded the honour of Diploma of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Between the years of 2002 and 2013, Dr Bennie practiced as a General Practitioner in North Eastern Victoria, acting as Visiting Medical Officer at the Myrtleford War Memorial Hospital, where he cared for many patients with general medical and surgical conditions, and delivered many private obstetric patients throughout that time. His long years of service have helped him gain a wide range of experience and skills in general medicine and surgery.
Rural General Practice was a very demanding time offering a great breadth of medical practice and developing excellent functioning collegiate specialist relationships. He currently holds full and unconditional specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in the field of General Practice, and is an accredited Surgical Assistant in several Adelaide hospitals.

In his spare time, Dr Bennie enjoys the company of his three boisterous boys and shares with them the enjoyment of fly fishing, gardening, guitar playing and snow skiing.
Dr Selin Chong
Dr Selin Chong is a talented medical officer who has extensive exposure in many areas of medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, intensive care, obstetrics & gynaecology, and general practice.
After completing her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2011 at the University of Adelaide, Dr Selin Chong went on to complete her internship and post-graduate medical training at Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital. She is a fully qualified and registered medical practitioner. She now works in the emergency department at various hospitals across Adelaide, and also operates with Dr Yap at major private hospitals in Adelaide. Together, they shared the same goal and interest in providing the best holistic care for their patients.
Dr Selin Chong is passionate about promoting Medical Excellence through her involvement, as a stimulated patient and an examiner, in various medical examinations organized by the Adelaide University Medical Student Association and the Australian Medical Council. She has attended many medical conferences including the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' Annual Scientific Congress.

Being brought up in a multicultural Malaysia, Selin is always at ease when engaging with people from all walks of life and very respectful and accommodating to people from different cultural background. She is multi-lingual, being able to fluently converse in Mandarin, Hokkien and Malay language (similar to Bahasa Indonesia). She believes that good communication, attention to details, and quality time spent with patients are the keys to providing high quality healthcare.
Dr Selin Chong is happily married to a medical specialist. They enjoy going to the gym together and preparing home-cooked food. She is also an avid churchgoer.
Ms Mei-Khing Loo
Mei, as she is commonly known, has a Bachelor of Information Technology from the University of Southern Queensland, majoring in computer software development. She had worked for various IT companies and had been involved in a broad range of projects covering administration, finance and logistics for different multi-national companies. She has shown exceptional talent in organisation and communication, and is playing multiple important roles as our practice manager, finance manager and IT manager.
Having brought up in a multicultural Malaysia, Mei is proficient in a number of languages including English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka and Hokkien. Whatever cultural background you are from, Mei is knowledgeable, sensitive and respectful of your social circumstances and would be obliging to cater for your request.
Mei is also married to Dr Yap and has three children between the ages of 4 to 10. In her past-times, she loves cooking different cuisines and shares her passion with friends and family via Facebook!
Ms Kai-Yi Chui (Christy)
Dietician & Nutritionist
Kai-Yi Chui (Christy) is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a specific interest in the areas of diabetes, weight management, cardiovascular disease and women's health. She currently holds a professional membership with the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA). She speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
After completing her Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics at Flinders University, Kai-Yi went on to work as a private dietitian, a newspaper columnist, health blogger and SBS radio presenter regarding health and nutrition. She aims to provide an excellent personalised and holistic nutrition services for her clients.
Kai-Yi spent four years at Flinders University to become an expert in nutrition for people with different health needs. During this time, she worked as a dietician in Repatriation General Hospital, City of Onkaparinga Council, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre. She is very competent in providing dietetic services and nutritional advices to people with special needs like pregnancy, weight issue, diabetes, malnutrition and other complicated health situations.
Kai-Yi is comfortable sharing with you her knowledge on selecting the right food for you like menu planning, recipe revision or standardization, food selections, portion control and evaluation for general, diverse or therapeutic diets, such as gluten free diet and vegan diet. She has also developed and presented several nutrition classes and workshops in the Hub Library, City of Onkaparinga Council and working with coaches, trainers, parents and children on healthy lunch box, vegan diet, heart and bone health, and sport nutrition.
Besides, with her great passion in promoting healthy diets and lifestyles to communities, she is a healthy food blogger that she provides easy to read and credible nutrition information and recipes in Instagram and Facebook regarding healthy eating and easy meal ideas with several thousands followers. She also presents at SBS radio Cantonese programs and writes articles in Xinadelaide newspaper regarding food safety in Australia, label reading, healthy eating and so on.
Kai-Yi loves cooking different cuisines and modifying recipes for healthy results. She has her online cookbook with over ten thousand viewers. She looks forward to discuss with you about your diet.
We have a group of anaesthetists who can provide anaesthetics for our in-patient surgery, obstetric epidural analgesia and obstetric delivery. The anaesthetist will be notified once the hospital admission is organised, and you can have the opportunity to know who the anaesthetist is and to find out more about the service he/she provides. We can also organise a preoperative anaesthetic counselling session if you wish to discuss more about your anaesthetic options and risks.
All anaesthetists we engaged are credentialled by the Medical Board of Australia and the hospitals, and they are all independent professionals.
Dr Sanjay Sinhal
MBBS MD FRACP
Dr Sinhal is a Paediatrician, specialising in the care of newborn and is providing his expert service at Ashford hospital, Flinders Private hospital and Flinders Medical Centre. He has more than a decade of experience in paediatrics and neonatology, spanning two countries - India and Australia. He received specialist training in Paediatrics and Neonatal Medicine at The Royal Women’s Hospital & The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and at Princess Margaret Hospital & King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth.
Dr Sinhal has an outstanding list of achievements, being Dux of the Year for his medical degree at the University of Pune, India; obtaining Dux of the Year award for his postgraduate examination in MD Paediatrics; receiving the Advanced Trainee Research Award of the The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in Victoria; and being conferred fellowship to RACP, specialising in neonatology. He is active in research and has presented many research papers in national and international conferences, not mentioning a few published articles in scientific medical journals. He is also a Lecturer in Paediatrics at Flinders University and an examiner for Paediatrician’s examination of the RACP.
Dr Sinhal is committed to providing world class care with a compassionate personal touch. Having treated thousands of newborns and children with various conditions, he is able to choose the most appropriate treatment for an individual baby / child.
Dr Sinhal is happily married with two children, and is an ardent cricket player. He can speak English and Hindi fluently.
